A chimney lives in the worst spot on your house, up where sun, rain, and freeze-thaw hit hardest. We repair, rebuild, and maintain masonry chimneys: crowns, caps, flashing, repointing, and full rebuilds from the roofline up.
Most chimney damage starts at the top. A cracked crown lets water into the brick; the water freezes, pops the faces off the masonry (spalling), and works down the stack, and by the time you see stains on a ceiling, it's been going on for years. The fix is almost always cheaper the earlier it's caught: a new crown and cap this year beats a roofline rebuild in five.
We handle the full range: repointing eroded mortar joints, replacing spalled brick, casting new crowns, installing caps and chase covers, re-flashing where the chimney meets the roof, and complete teardown-and-rebuild when the structure is too far gone. Common Questions
My chimney has white stains, what is that?
Efflorescence: minerals left behind as water moves through the masonry. It's a sign the chimney is absorbing water, and it deserves a look before freeze-thaw does real damage.
The bricks are flaking apart. Can it be fixed?
Spalled brick can't be un-spalled, but we replace damaged units and fix the water source, a bad crown or missing cap is usually the culprit.
Do I really need a chimney cap?
It's the cheapest protection a chimney can get. It keeps out rain and animals and shields the flue, we can install one in a single visit.
